LEAP in the News

  • LEAP was presented at a public research forum titled “MoveIt!” sponsored by the University of British Columbia and three Vancouver research institutes (the Child and Family Research Institute; Vancouver Coastal Research Institute, and Providence Research Institute).
  • LEAP was presented at Café Scientific in Montreal.
  • LEAP was also featured in a National Post article titled “Arthritis Afflicts all Ages” as part of their Beat Arthritis section.
  • LEAP has won an award from the Consumer Panel of the Institute of Musculoskeletal Health at CIHR for the best lay abstract (paragraph from the grant explaining the research in lay terms).
  • In our increasingly wired and wireless world, how can we use technology to improve health? This was the hot topic sparking debate on the evening of October 16, 2012 in Vancouver, where the Wired Café: Arthritis management in a Digital World took place. With about 40 people in the room, another 40 people participating via live stream, and an active Twitter feed projected on the wall, this Café was a glimpse into the future of healthcare and arthritis management in a digital world. Several online resources have been developed, including the newly launched LEAP website which encourages kids with arthritis to be active.
